Peepyshado constructs its puzzle framework around inverse stealth mechanics where players must avoid illuminated zones rather than seek them. Each of the 50 levels presents a grid-based environment with dynamic light sources that cast real-time shadows calculated through a proprietary shadow-mapping algorithm. Your character, Peepy, exists solely within darkness and disintegrates upon contact with light beams.
The game engine processes light-shadow boundaries with pixel-perfect collision detection, allowing players to manipulate movable objects to create safe shadow corridors. Light sources include static lamps, rotating spotlights with adjustable speeds, and timed strobes that alternate between active and dormant states. Strategic positioning of shadow-casting blocks becomes essential as puzzle complexity escalates through chapters.
Progression unlocks advanced mechanics: shadow teleportation between disconnected dark zones, light-absorbing crystals that temporarily neutralize beams, and mirror surfaces that redirect illumination. The physics simulation accounts for multiple overlapping light sources, creating intricate shadow patterns that require spatial reasoning and timing precision to navigate successfully.
Touch-based movement controls allow precise positioning within darkness zones. Swipe to move Peepy between shadow pockets while the game highlights safe paths in real-time. The navigation system includes a ghost-trail preview showing your intended route before committing to movement.
Interact with environment objects to alter light patterns. Push movable blocks to create shadow bridges, rotate mirrors to redirect beams away from your path, and activate switches that toggle light sources on timed intervals. Each tool introduces new puzzle-solving dimensions.
Five distinct chapters with 10 levels each escalate in mechanical complexity. Early stages teach basic shadow navigation, while later chapters combine rotating spotlights, moving platforms, and multi-phase light sequences that require memorization and split-second timing to overcome.
Unlocked in Chapter 3, this ability lets Peepy instantly warp between non-adjacent darkness zones. Teleportation points glow with purple indicators and require strategic planning as some puzzles demand specific teleport sequences to reach the exit portal before light patterns shift.
Stuck players can activate visual hints that temporarily illuminate the optimal path through a level. The system highlights which objects to manipulate and in what sequence, with three hint tiers ranging from subtle directional arrows to full solution walkthroughs.
Complete levels under par time, collect hidden shadow orbs in bonus zones, and finish chapters without using hints to unlock 30 achievements. Each achievement awards cosmetic shadow trails and character skins that customize Peepy's appearance without affecting gameplay.
